Welcome to the Spring Into Summer Festival Blog! Oak Grove Tourism hosted the 1st Annual Spring Into Summer Festival in 2008 with the hopes of creating a signature festival that would please the residents and attract visitors. Now in its fourth year, the festival is expected to attract more than 15,000 visitors from both near and far. This event has grown to include FREE carnival rides, 3 different variety shows, pony rides, train rides and plenty of food and merchandise vendors. Bringing back the good ole days in Oak Grove.

I grew up in a very small town where everyone knew everyone.  Every year I would look forward to our one and only festival.  There wasn't anything much to it; a couple of very small rides, a concession stand and beer tent and a softball tournament.  But this festival was the most exciting time of the year for me because it was a time when everyone in the community would come together to enjoy some free fun not far from home.  Now I get to plan festivals like this in Oak Grove, only these ones are even better than my old hometown festival ever was.

The price for Oak Grove Tourism's events are the same as I paid when I was a kid, absolutely free!  The concept is the same; we want to create an atmosphere of community togetherness, but we want the impact to be huge.  So we have decided to organize events that are not only free, but packed full of activities for the entire family.  Our Spring Into Summer Festival is the best example of this.

This Memorial Day Weekend you don't have to go far or spend a lot of money to have a great time with your family.  Just pack everyone up, slather on the sunscreen and come out to the War Memorial Walking Trail Park.  We have variety shows, music, vendors, and best of all, FREE CARNIVAL RIDES.  And when we say free we mean free.  Just come out, get in line, and get on the ride.  The way it should be.

Saturday night we will have a concert featuring country star Craig Morgan at the Viceroy Performing Arts Center.  Come out with your blankets and lawn chairs and listen to an amazing artist.  If you get the urge you could even get up and dance under the stars with your sweetheart.  I doesn't get much more old fashioned than that.

We want everyone to experience this amazing community event.  There aren't a lot of festivals anymore whose purpose isn't to make money.  We are so lucky because turning a profit doesn't have to be our number one priority.  All we have to worry about is giving people a wonderful festival experience. Like it was in the ole days, family, friends, community and fun.  Those should be the only things that matter.
