How to spend a Memorial Day Weekend in Oak Grove KY

Looking for something to do this Memorial Day Weekend?  You don't have to go far and spend all that gas money to have a great time.  In fact, you don't have to spend any money at all.  There are a lot of free, family events in and around Oak Grove, KY for you to enjoy.  We have taken the liberty of planning a wonderful weekend for you.  All you have to do is follow these steps and you will enjoy one of the best Memorial Day Weekends you have had in a long time without ever leaving home.

It all starts Saturday May 28th at 12pm with free carnival rides, variety shows, vendors, pony and train rides and much more at the War Memorial Walking Trail Park in Oak Grove, KY.  Bring out the entire family and enjoy an amazing day of free fun. The only cash you need to bring is for your food and drinks.  But don't forget to pack your lawn chairs because more free fun starts at 6:30pm at the Viceroy Performing Arts Center.  Kip Moore opens the show and at 8pm country star Craig Morgan will perform his hits.
Morgan has been a mainstay on the charts with an impressive body of work that includes fourteen Top Ten hits -- including fan-favorites "Redneck Yacht Club," "Almost Home," "That's What I Love About Sunday," and "Bonfire." Craig's latest single "Still a Little Chicken Left on That Bone" is climbing the charts. As a performer, he's entertained countless fans in every corner of the globe. And as a country star, he's reached what many consider the pinnacle of his profession when in 2008 he became a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

Sunday May 29th take the family over to Denny's and enjoy a wonderful breakfast.  Then come on back to the fun at the War Memorial Walking Trail.  The free carnival rides and other festival activities will start up again at 12pm and go until 6pm.

After this weekend of fun don't forget to take time to honor those this long weekend is really about.  On Memorial Day, before all the cookouts and family fun, go over to the Eagle's Rest Pavilion just outside Ft. Campbell's Gate 10.  The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall will be open for visitors from May 26-May 31, 2011.  According to its website: " This Traveling Memorial stands as a reminder of the great sacrifices made during the Vietnam War. It was made for the purpose of helping heal and rekindle friendships and to allow people the opportunity to visit loved ones in their home town who otherwise may not be able to make the trip to Washington."  Visit www.travelingwall.us for more information.

We hope we have helped you plan a wonderful family weekend for this Memorial Day.  Remember to keep in mind those that this day is about.  No community knows the sacrifices made during war better than the men and women of Ft. Campbell and their families and for that we thank you.

Come out to the War Memorial Walking Trail in Oak Grove May 28-29, 2011 and enjoy the free, family fun!  See you there!
